5 inch gauge LNER A4 Pacific No.4468 "Sir Nigel Gresley"

A 5 inch gauge LNER A4 Pacific No.4498 "Sir Nigel Gresley", built from a ModelWorks kit.

Largely assembled it has, like most kit build engines, been apart and together a few times as the builder fathomed the mysteries of the valve gear (something which, arguably, the manufacturer never managed to do...).

The locomotive runs on air - actually rather better than we expected - and the boiler has had a hydraulic test with new certification issued.

Whilst having something of a reputation - and indeed, many of these never got as far as running on air, let along steaming - there is a good deal of expertise built up over the years in getting the Winson/ModelWorks engines going.
