5 inch gauge LNER L1 boiler

A finely made silver soldered copper boiler for a 5 inch gauge LNER L1, the work of a highly experienced model engineer with several good locomotives to his credit.

This was the last boiler he was working on, it came to us earlier in the year along with his completed locomotives.

Work to date is to a high standard with neatly flanged plates and good solder penentration. There is a leak on one superheater flue in the firebox which will require re-soldering, the rest of the boiler looks good.

Complete with inner dome and regulator flange fitted to backhead.
