5 inch gauge Super Simplex 0-6-0T

A well built 5 inch gauge 0-6-0T to Martin Evans' "Super Simplex" design, in good condition, unsteamed from new.

A development of his highly popular "Simplex" design - a mainstay of club motive power since it was introduced in 1967 - "Super Simplex" featured a larger, higher working pressure boiler, up from 4 3/4 to 5 inch diameter; a longer wheelbase, and slightly bigger cylinders, up from 1 1/2 to 1 9/16 inch bore. Some engines - this one included - were fitted with a shorter chimney giving a purposeful, powerful appearance - rather attractive to our eyes.

The commercially made CE-marked boiler by Blackgates Engineering has had a twice working pressure hydraulic test with new certification issued for 110psi working.
