5 inch gauge "Tich" 0-4-0T

A particularly well-built 5 inch gauge "Tich", scaled up from LBSC's original 3 1/2 inch design.

The work of a talented model engineer who, over a fifty year period built model locomotives, cars, boats and road steam engines, winning several awards at exhibition including the Crebbin Cup for his 5 inch gauge Shay.

Free-steaming, the engine runs very well - there's some video of it on the rolling road here. It notches up running in either direction, making steam whilst doing so - running for an hour yesterday afternoon, the only sound other than the motionwork was the regular opening and shutting of the safety valve.

The silver soldered copper boiler is fed by axle pump and injector with an auxiliary hand pump in the side tank, the injector has been piped up to take water from a remote tank on a driving truck.

A removeable collar clamps around the chimney which provides a quick detach mounting for a spark arrester, shown in the video.
