Part-built 3 1/2 inch gauge GWR 42xx 2-8-0

An unusual model, a 3 ½ inch gauge version of Churchward's 42xx 2-8-0 tank locomotive, built for heavy freight in the South Wales coal fields.

Work to date comprises a substantially complete chassis with gunmetal cylinders, valve gear fitted. Much of the platework is done, including side tanks, cab and bunker, smokebox is fitted.

There is a silver-soldered copper boiler, by the same builder as the part-built “Molly” and 2 ½ inch gauge LMS 2-6-4T currently in stock.
