3 1/2 inch gauge B1 "Springbok"

We originally sold this one back in January - however, due to the logistical challenge of getting a crate to Australia, it's remained here at the works since that time.

The owner has now moved up several gauges, having acquired a part-built 10 1/4 inch gauge Garratt to play with, and the B1 has come back into open stock. Pictures and words are from January, it's in exactly the same condition now.

A 3 1/2 inch gauge LNER B1 - I'd say quite unusual in this gauge except that we had another come in a week before Christmas as well!

Unsteamed from new, the engine is fitted with a commercially-built CE-marked boiler which has had recent hydraulic test with new certification issued.

Requiring work before the engine can be run, the chassis is fairly stiff to turn over; the valves and/or pistons are blowing by and the regulator leaks copiously.
