4 1/2 inch scale Foden wagon

A 4 1/2 inch scale Foden steam wagon, assembled from Steam Traction World kits by an experienced engineer who, having enjoyed the project so much, went on to build a Burrell SCC agricultural, single cylinder steam roller and DCC road locomotive from the same manufacturer.

His main interest was in building rather than running - the Foden saw light, occasional use on completion, the other engines remained new and unsteamed.

Fitted with a CE-marked boiler by the estimable John Rex Model Engineers, running at 140psi working pressure, the engine operates as a double-high rather than compound making for easy starting without need for a simpling valve.

The engine has been through the workshop here in recent days. Boiler has had internal inspection and washout with ultrasonic survey, followed by hydraulic and steam tests with new certification issued.

We've had STW Fodens in before and, like them, this one proved free-steaming and runs well.

The engine is offered with full certification, 12 months warranty, set of firing irons and a starter kit of coal and oil.

We would be more than happy to give half a day's instruction on the steaming, running and disposal of the engine to a new owner if required.
