4 inch scale Burrell 6nhp agricultural engine

A 4 inch scale 6nhp Burrell agricultural engine, in storage for many years its last known boiler inspection was when a new NTET disc was issued in 2003.

A well made engine, it steams very freely and runs exceptionally well down to a slow tickover, helped in part by the heavy, road locomotive type solid flywheel - there's some video of it ticking over in the yard here.

The engine was sold on behalf of the owner whose health now precludes using it. The welded steel boiler with expanded tubes looks commercially built, however there is no history available for it, other than the NTET disc still attached to the engine, recording its number. The ever helpful people at the NTET confirmed the owner's details and that, at the time of issue, the engine had a boiler certificate with insurance arranged through Walker Midgley.

We've hydraulic tested the boiler at 200psi, with no signs of plate deflection or leaks, prior to steaming it. Going by its mechanical condition and lack of wear to the tyres. we suspect the engine has had little use from new.

There are a couple of jobs requiring attention - the tender is of mild steel, it needs painting with some tank sealant inside to protect it. Unusually there is no blower fitted; we didn't miss it when steaming the engine - it draws the fire very well at a tickover - but piping one in would be a useful addition.
