5 inch gauge "Simplex" 0-6-0T

A 5 inch gauge 0-6-0T to Martin Evans' "Simplex" design, an older engine in running order. Well made in the first place and nicely painted, it needs some work to bring it up to scratch.

The boiler has had a hydraulic test with new certification issued, we would warranty as sound.

Work required includes:

• Repair of nearside draincock operating linkage
• Service/replace safety valves which accumulate marginally
• Rebush coupling/connecting rods
• Recommend replacement of pressure gauge which, while within limits, read 5psi low at working pressure

The engine steams freely and runs well in either direction, with some wear apparent in the motionwork. Both hand and axle pumps worked effectively. The regulator is stiff to operate, although frees up somewhat when hot.
