45mm gauge LNER B12 4-6-0

A 45mm gauge spirit-fired LNER B12 4-6-0.

Originally designed for the Great Eastern Railway as a successor to the "Claud Hamilton", there's an undeniable streak of Stratford Works underneath the Darlington Green livery.

While finish of both machined parts and paintwork is workmanlike, the overall presentation is supremely elegant to my eyes - this one ticks a lot of boxes.

We've hydraulic tested the boiler and issued certification for the same.

Under steam the engine ran beautifully in both directions, the regulator proving highly responsive - we were all very taken with it.

The safety valves, while opening dutifully, don't reseat without kinetic encouragement - given that they're original and blend rather well with the patina of the rest of the engine, we've decided not to replace them.
