5 inch gauge "Simplex" 0-6-0T

A 5 inch gauge 0-6-0T to Martin Evans' "Simplex" design, this one has come to us from North of the border where it has been on display in the owner's house, unused, for the last ten years.

A well made example of this popular design, the engine has had recent hydraulic and steam tests with new certification issued.

The original safety valves, which accumulated, have been replaced, the lubricator sight feeder has been stripped and cleaned.

On test the engine steamed freely and ran well in either direction, with some wear apparent in the coupling rod bushes. We like the tank mounted wick-feed oilers supplying the axleboxes and axle pump eccentric - a good idea on a tank engine where these parts are often difficult of access for an oil can (and suffer premature wear as a result).
