7 1/4 inch gauge LNER V2 2-6-2

A 7 1/4 inch gauge LNER V2, the work of a highly experienced engineer with many other locomotives to his name, six in this gauge alone including one of the finest 7 1/4 inch gauge Jubilees I've seen. He researched, designed and built the first LNER P2 in 5 inch gauge, well into retirement he designed and built what remains the only LNER 2-8-0 + 0-8-2 U1 "Wath Banker" in 7 1/4 inch gauge and is currently working simultaneously on an LNER A3 and GWR King in 3 1/2 inch gauge.

This engine was built over twenty years ago, it has remained with the builder from new and has been used in the past as his main club engine - he's now at a time of life where something smaller is more practical to take out.

Steel boiler with expanded tubes, 100psi working pressure, feed by injector and axle pump with bypass. Cast iron cylinders with piston valves actuated by Gresley-Holcroft conjugated gear with pole reverser in the cab. Mechanical lubricator. Crank axle is fabricated by press fit and keys, driving wheelsets run in split axle boxes, trailing wheels in prototypical Cartazzi cart.

The tender is in steel, with a brass water tank inside.

I like this engine - it has a huge amount of presence, its proportions are spot on capturing the look of the original engine. Goes as well as it looks - which didn't come as a great surprise knowing the builder.
