7 1/4 inch gauge Standard Class 4 2-6-4T with commercial boiler

A large quantity of unmachined gunmetal, aluminium and iron castings, commercially built CE-marked boiler, profiled parts and drawings for a 7 1/4 inch gauge Standard Class 4 tank to the Jim Vass design.

The boiler is by Devon Steam Boilers, CE-marked and stamped with its serial number. It's come to us from the family of the late builder, delivered to him new in 2016 since when any original documentation for it has gone missing. We have had many engines in over the years with DSB boilers and rate them highly - beautifully made, we would warranty this one to pass a twice working pressure hydraulic test.

A handsome engine - and vanishingly rare in this gauge - it will produce a large, powerful locomotive when finished.

Whilst we've yet to have a Class 4 in this gauge, we were lucky enough to have the first one ever built to Doug Hewson's 5 inch gauge design some years ago - a highly-detailed, finely built locomotive, there are pictures of it in the archive here.
