3 1/2 inch gauge GWR County 4-4-0

A 3 1/2 inch gauge GWR 38XX "County of Hereford", the 4-4-0 version of Churchward's four cylinder 4-6-0 "Saint".

Produced as a class of ten in 1904, it's a most atttractive design - to my eyes the very essence of the "Light Gentleman's Sporting Locomotive".

A nicely made model, it had a new Western Steam boiler fitted some years ago - it's been hydraulic tested, with new certification issued and is warrantied as sound.

Chassis runs in forwards gear, not in reverse.

The locomotive is fitted with a steam brake, cylinders have piston valves actuated by well-executed Stephenson's gear, eccentric straps are all number punched in pairs for correct assembly.

A worthwhile winter project, alternatively it's the ideal size for a sideboard (and the one beside me as I write this looks like a piece of furniture made for the job...)
