5 inch gauge LNER V1 2-6-2T

A 5 inch gauge LNER V1, Gresley's three cylinder fast cuburban tank locomotive, built to Martin Evans' "Enterprise" design.

We sold this one way back in June 2002 - at that time it comprised a boiler, set of laser cut frame and a large box full of unmachined castings (the listing's in the archive here).

Fast fowards nearly twenty years, it's recently come back to us as part of a large collection of complete and part-built locomotives in 3 1/2 and 5 inch gauge.

Work to date is to a high standard and comprises a complete chassis, beautifully made silver soldered copper boiler by Cheddar Models, profiled brass components for cab, bunker and tanks, smokebox tube and unmachined castings for chimney, petticoat pipe, dome, saddle, grate and smokebox door with front and back rings.

Having run one of my own nearly twenty years ago on the Reading Club track (an engine which latterly sold to a fellow club member), I can vouch for the design - a large, powerful locomotive it was easy to drive; with no tender to reach across the controls were all easily to hand.
