7 1/4 inch gauge BR 2-10-0 9F chassis, wheels & cylinders

An early stage 7 1/4 inch gauge BR 9F 2-10-0, the work of an experienced model engineer, a man who'd already completed an LNER A4 and B1 in the same gauge, with a Britannia well on the way to completion.

Work to date on this one is to a good standard and comprises erected frames with pony truck, part-machined driving and coupled wheels, and cylinders complete with pistons fitted with Clupet rings.

Drawings and castings are available from Horley Miniature Locomotives. For those looking for a faster build, or with limited workshop facilities, 17D Miniatures manufacture a large range of excellent quality parts for BR Standard Class locomotives including valve gear, wheels, axles etc. Much of the platework for locomotive and tender is available ready profiled from Model Engineers Laser.

I'm sure nobody needs reminding quite what a magnificent thing a 9F is in 7 1/4 inch gauge, but for those who can't bring it to mind there are dozens of pictures of Ron Martin's masterpiece in the archive here.

Complete with eight sheets of Dick Stockings drawings.
