We sold this one last year, it's recently come back along with several other fine engines (including a
Burrell DCC agricultural and
Scenic Showmans engines) as the owner downsizes his collection. Words below are from 2015 (you can see the full listing from that time
in the archive here), pictures opposite were taken this week.
A particularly well made 3 inch scale Atkinson steam wagon to the Ray Prime design. It runs beautifully, the engine is very quiet and surprisingly powerful - a very different animal to drive compared to a Foden or Clayton.
There's some footage of Harry hot-rodding around the yard on it last week - he reports it goes like a rocket but needs a set of foot pegs - there's no pleasing some people...
Commercially-built silver soldered copper boiler by Kingswood, 100psi working pressure. Feed by mechanical pump and injector, with a very effective hand pump mounted on the offside of the chassis. Twin cylinder engine with mechanical lubricator, single fixed speed transmission.
The engine has had only one season's use since completion, it is in good order throughout and ready to use for the rest of the season.
