3 inch scale Burrell traction engine

A "barn find" 3 inch scale Burrell, an engine that came in as part of a large collection when we cleared the late owner's house and grounds. A life long collector, there were engines and steam-related equipment squirelled away everywhere, including some in a boarded up room, with no door apparent beneath the wallpaper!

The Burrell was sheeted up under a large pile of debris in the garden, behind a full size diesel roller. Having extracted the rest of the collection, it was far from clear whether we'd actually be able to retrieve this one, such was the difficulty of access. However, determined not to leave without it, Ashley and Steve worked a miracle to get it out and loaded into the van in one piece!

It goes without saying that this is a complete restoration job; however, underneath the grime and flaking paint is a nicely made engine, with a commercially built copper boiler by Chambers.

We've given the boiler a preliminary hydraulic test - it appears structurally sound, and we would warranty it to pass a twice working pressure test when stripped and the leaking regulator has been attended to.
