5 inch gauge American 4-4-0

A barn find 5 inch gauge American 4-4-0 - unfortunately the barn didn't yield up the tender as well, which appears to have long since disappeared.

Very grubby, the chassis is seized and little remains of the paintwork.

On the plus side it's a large, rather attractively proportioned engine which was quite nicely made in the distant past.

The copper boiler has had a twice working pressure hydraulic test at 180psi which showed nothing amiss other than a bead of water off one firebox stay, however it will need cladding removing and dismounting from the frames for a thorough examination before use.
