5 inch gauge LNER B1 2-6-0

A 5 inch gauge LNER B1 4-6-0 to Martin Evans' popular "Springbok" design, a well-advanced project which could be finished with modest equipment and little by way of further expenditure.

Work to date is to a good standard and comprises an air-running chassis, commercially-built silver-soldered copper by boiler by Bishop-Ellis and tender.

The locomotive springing needs attention - too soft, it has to be jacked up for the chassis to run quietly, it needs stiffer springs.

There is a quantity of loose parts, including some fittings, component parts for the lubricator and brake gear, along with drawings and copies of the original construction articles from "Model Engineer" magazine.
