SECOND HAND
10939
The chassis is particularly well made - fit and finish of motionwork and valve gear is to a high standard with component parts stamped up "L" and "R".
It runs well on air with crisp, well-defined exhaust beats - there's a clip of it on our YouTube channel here - and is fitted with smokebox and saddle assembly, draincocks and linkage, reverser stand and reach rod, crosshead pump, and steam brakes which work when tested on air.
The silver soldered copper boiler is not of the same quality - it has patches of soft-solder calking on it and several leaks, mainly from stays and one superheater flue, although the main barrel joint appears dry.
A popular design producing a large, powerful locomotive ideally suited to club hauling. We've sold several over the years, Keith Massey's example remaining the engine by which we judge all others.
