Small steam plant

A well made steam plant, comprising a scratch-built horizontal mill engine of freelance design, fitted with Stephenson's reversing gear and displacement lubricator, along with a horizontal centre flue boiler complete with fittings and hand feed pump.

This one has come to us from the builder's son - the boiler was originally built, along with the Stuart Sun we currently have in stock, to power a five foot steam launch. The engine proved unsuitable for the boat, a horizontal engine was built for the boiler to produce the steam plant you see here.

The boiler has had a twice working pressure hydraulic test, with new certification issued.

The engine turns over freely and runs well on air, with crisp exhaust beats; there is some wear apparent in the crosshead and trunkguide.
