2 inch scale Clayton steam wagon

A finely built 2 inch scale Clayton steam wagon to the Robin Dyer design, incorporating the desirable 2:1 reduction gear and dog clutch modification allowing the engine to be run out of gear and producing a much more capable performer on the road.

The work of an award-winning engineer with many fine models to his credit including the Crebbin Cup winning Shay locomotive recently listed.

Built thirty years ago, the Clayton won the "Clayton Driver's Competition" run at the London Model Engineering Exhibition in the 1990s, gaining its builder/driver a cup in the process.

In recent years the wagon has been on display in a glass case in the late builder's house. The boiler has previous club history and has had a recent hydraulic test - it's in good order. The engine is currently seized, not unexpected given the length of time it's spent out of use.
