4 inch scale Burrell 6nhp agricultural engine

An exceptionally well-built 4 inch scale Burrell agricultural engine, the work of a highly capable engineer whose work is well known to us.

An experienced steam man, he's owned full-size traction engines as well as a superbly restored 1907 Stanley steam car which we sold in 2022.

As well as his interest in full-size steam, he has several fine miniatures to his credit, including a 3 inch scale Fowler A7 we sold in 2021 and this Burrell, the last engine completed.

Now being sold to make space in the workshop, current projects include a 4 inch scale Foster DCC road locomotive which is close to completion, after which a part-built 6 inch scale Maclaren awaits completion. It's tiring simply visiting the man's workshop!

Not a great deal to say about this one that the pictures opposite don't more eloquently convey. A beautifully built machine, it goes every bit as well as it looks. It has had a handful of steamings from new; the commercially-built boiler, by S.E.Ward of Sheffield, had a cladding off inspection in 2022 with the most recent commercial inspection - including hydraulic test - done in June of this year.

Brush painted in Craftmaster enamel with primer and two top coats, then hand-lined, it presents very well.

The well-designed driver's seat features a set of jockey wheels mounted via a double wishbone bolted to the drawbar, the seat itself mounted on a swivel. It makes for a comfortable driving position, whilst at the same time reducing the load on the rear of the engine, improving overall balance and steering.

Road-registered with V5, the engine is in as-new condition, offered with 12 months warranty, set of firing irons and a starter kit of coal and oil.
