3 1/2 inch gauge GNR Atlantic copper boiler and tender

A silver soldered copper boiler for a 3 1/2 inch gauge "Maisie", LBSC's design based on Ivatt's large-boiler Great Northern Railway Atlantic. Well made with an internal butt-strapped barrel, neatly flanged plates and good solder penetration, together with a largely complete tender for the same design.

This one has come to us from the son of a long time customer of ours - an experienced model engineer, it was one of the last projects left under his bench.

Vital statistics of boiler are:

• length excluding smokebox 17 inches
• diameter 4 inches
• width 5 1/2 inches
• length outer firebox 5 inches
• 18 off flue tubes, 2 off superheater flues

It's come to us without any paperwork, however from the witness of solder on the dome flange we suspect it's been tested in the past. On visual inspection it appears well made - we'd be happy to warranty it as sound, capable of passing a twice working pressure shell test.
