SECOND HAND
6731
We sold this one a couple of years ago, it's recently come back as the owner has moved abroad to work (somewhere warm and sunny, he says without a hint of envy...).
A finely made 3 inch scale Burrell traction engine – it was built to commission and run occasionally when first delivered, then professionally painted before display in a well-known museum in the South. Before we bought it three years ago, it had remained unsteamed since being painted - whilst it has been lightly used since, it remains in excellent condition.
Silver soldered copper boiler, working pressure 100psi, feed by injector and mechanical pump. Cast iron cylinder with slide valve actuated by Stephenson's gear, pole reverser on footplate. Pickering type governor, mechanical lubricator. Two speed transmission with differential, rubber tyres bonded to wheels, winch behind nearside rear wheel with fairleads on tender.
There's a clip of the engine running outside the workshop this afternoon here.
