5 inch gauge Class 08 shunter

An exceptionally well-built and finely detailed 5 inch gauge Class 08 diesel shunter, the work of a retired man who drove these and other locomotives - including Class 37s - in his working life.

A self-taught engineer of considerable ability, his previous projects included a 5 inch gauge LNER B1 and 3 inch scale Allchin agricultural engine.

Bodywork is entirely in steel, contributing to an all up weight of nearly 90 pounds without batteries. The chassis is fitted with four Gallay 2809-420-003 12 volt motors, with gear drive to axles.

The locomotive is new and unused, we've tested the chassis with a battery and it runs, however the builder never fitted any form of controller, it will need something from the estimable people at 4QD or Mtroniks to complete, along with a pair of batteries.
