5 inch gauge LNER B1 No.1011 "Waterbuck"

A 5 inch gauge LNER B1 No.1011 "Waterbuck", to Martin Evans' popular "Springbok" design.

Well built originally, the engine is fitted with a commercial boiler which came to us with original manufacturer's documentation, along with comprehensive club certification dating back to 2013, issued by two different clubs, signed off by four different boiler inspectors, with seven independent witnesses. The latest test (hydraulic and steam) was in March of this year.

Which would all add up to an impressive file of paperwork to have with a boiler - if only one of the learned gentlemen had thought to look for a CE mark on the 2004-built boiler...

We couldn't resist giving it a quick hydraulic test so that we could at least steam the engine. Boiler - other than having no CE mark - proved sound, on test the engine steamed freely and ran rather well, if showing some wear in the bottom end.
