5 inch gauge "Simplex" 0-6-0T

We sold this one earlier in the year - in a change of direction the owner has recently part exchanged it in for the rather natty Suffolk Dredging tractor we videoed speeding around the works. Same condition now as when it was last here, pictures opposite and words below are from January.

A new, unsteamed 0-6-0 tank locomotive based on Martin Evans' "Simplex" design, the work of a highly experienced model engineer, with a fine LNER B1 and L1 to his credit as well.

We'd put this one at about 95% complete. The boiler has had a twice working pressure shell test, the chassis runs very well on air in both directions. Machining is crisp throughout, fit and finish of motion and valve gear excellent.

There is work required to commission for steaming, including sealing fittings and pipework, and attention to a pinhole leak in the superheater element return bend. Boiler cladding has a minor cosmetic ding in the top.
