7 1/4 inch gauge part-built Black 5 "Highlander" 4-6-0

An early stage 7 1/4 inch gauge LMS Black 5 to Martin Evans' popular "Highlander" design.

Comprises:

• erected frames with horns and roller bearing axleboxes, complete with axles, pumps and eccentrics
• machined driving and coupled wheels
• front bogie assembly, complete with wheels and axles
• set of machined tender wheels
• erected tender frames
• machined tender axle boxes
• machined cast iron cylinders, complete with front and rear covers
• piston rods with part-machined pistons
• piston valve bobbins and liners
• connecting and coupling rod assemblies
• motion bracket assemblies, complete with expansion links
• part-machined valve gear, including union links and combination levers
• pump eccentric rods with straps
• smokebox assembly
• crosshead castings
• buffers
• engine building stand, allowing rotation of chassis

Disregard the third crosshead casting shown in the pictures - it actually belongs to a different engine entirely, the result of a "blonde moment" our photographer tells us...

Built as one of a pair, work to date is to a good standard.
