2 1/2 inch scale Fowler superheated road locomotive

A beautifully built Fowler "might have been", it's come to us direct from the builder, a highly accomplished modeller of both locomotives and traction engines - we had his Z7S ploughing engine in last year.

Following works drawings to get the overall proportions and look of a B6 road engine, the builder has used the superheated Z7S block and boiler previously developed for his ploughing engine, with two speed transmission.

We're admirers of good engineering, the more so when a builder produces something like this. Never a published design, it's entirely plausible and something which, without a doubt, Fowler would have built themselves if asked (as in the case of the hybrid B6 "Fen engine" which ran locally to us here at Nocton).

Running on rubber tyres, it steams and drives very well. We've done little other than replace the regulator with a carbon-filled PTFE type, our standard fix for leaky regulators (which covers about 80% of the traction engines we get in!).

Complete with a driving truck, with tow bar which anchors under the back axle.
