2 inch scale Fowler BB1 ploughing engine

The first collaboration between Colin Tyler and John Haining saw them produce a pair of Fowler BB1 ploughing engines, along with plough, cultivator and mole drainer - Colin went out with his sketch book and tape measure, John produced the detail drawings. The build was serialised in "Model Engineer" magazine, the drawings and castings have been available ever since although ploughing engines in general, and the Fowler compounds in particular, remain some of the rarest of traction engine models.

Built by Colin Tyler in 1967, this engine has spent many years on display as part of a large private collection of traction engines (including all of his ploughing engines, tackle and broadside digger), locomotives and stationary engines. It's been run on air in the workshop, but has not been steamed in deference to its age and historical significance.
