3 1/2 inch gauge "Netta" 0-8-0

A 3 1/2 inch gauge Northern Eastern 0-8-0 to LBSC's well-regarded "Netta" design. An older engine, this one was built in the 1970s by an engineer who spent his working life in power station maintenance. A one owner engine, it has come to us from the late builder's wife.

Well built, the engine remains in good mechanical and cosmetic condition; in years gone by it was used by the owner to run around his highly scenic garden railway, with occasional outings to the club track.

The boiler has had hydraulic test with new certification issued, the engine runs on air.

We have steamed the engine, noting the following which will require attention to recommission for use:

  • free off seized regulator
  • service stuck whistle valve
  • free off blower valve
  • replace missing injector delivery pipe and water valve

An attractive locomotive, of a size equally suitable for running or display. A worthwhile project, with the potential to make a fine example of this popular design.
