3 1/2 inch gauge GNR Atlantic

We sold this one to a prolific collector up in Scotland in January 2025. On display for a few months in the interim, it arrived back with us in part-exchange for a North Eastern R1.

A 3 1/2 inch gauge GNR Atlantic to LBSC's "Maisie" design, underneath the funereal black paintwork and rather alarming neon red "snail trail" lining is a surprisingly well made engine which steamed freely and ran well in forwards, if less surefooted in reverse.

On test the axle and hand pumps worked well and the injector picked up cleanly. The safety valve opened reliably and maintained pressure within prescribed limits, although sometimes needing the lightest of taps with the shovel to close.

An engine whose performance belies its looks - something that could be run as-is, although with scope for cosmetic improvement if desired.
