3 1/2 inch gauge GWR 4-6-0 "Shugborough Hall"

A 3 1/2 inch gauge GWR 4-6-0 No.4969 "Shugborough Hall". One of four Great Western locomotives commercially built by Severn Lamb for a collector in the 1970s, this engine features in the book "Severn Lamb - Model Makers to the World".

The company built locomotives and traction engines in a wide range of gauges and scales, including work for David Curwen and Dobwalls, for which they built the Union Pacific 4-8-8-4 "William Jeffers" and 4-8-4s "Queen of Nebraska" and "Queen of Wyoming".

The engine appears to have been test steamed - possible once at the factory when new - since when it's been kept for display in its case. We've tested the boiler at twice working pressure - it's sound throughout, the only thing noted was a leaking regulator - but made no attempt to steam it given the locomotive's provenance and condition.

Mechanically as-new, the paintwork and lining remain in very good order, with some minor chips and flaking.
