3 1/2 inch gauge GWR 45XX 2-6-2T

A 3 1/2 inch gauge GWR 45XX 2-6-2T, the work of a prolific modeller several of whose engines we have sold in the past including a "Conway", "Rob Roy" and LMS 2-6-4T, along with several nicely built wagons.

Whilst his locomotives were all apparently built to published "words and music", it was never apparently the builder's intention to run them.

Several of the engines had boilers only tacked together, built for display rather than use - seems curious given how much work there is in building the rest of the engine.

The Prairie is largely complete and rolls along. Boiler has been neatly flanged and assembled, although only tacked together with solder; there is no mechanical lubricator; smokebox door locking handles are missing and the chassis is a fraction over gauge.

A nice bookcase ornament, or a good start for converting to a running engine.
