3 1/2 inch gauge LMS 4P 4-4-0

A 3 1/2 inch gauge Midland 4P 4-4-0, the work of a highly experienced model engineer and prolific contributor to "Model Engineer" magazine, he was also responsible for the 5 inch GWR 4-2-2 broad gauge "Iron Duke" we sold recently.

An older engine, one of nine produced by the builder and one of a pair - the other being "Iron Duke" - retained by the family, unused since 1994.

The boiler has had a hydraulic test with new certification issued. The engine steams freely and runs in either direction, with some wear apparent as might be expected in a locomotive of this age.

Both injectors require servicing or replacement - an odd-sized thread, it would require replacement of unions on the pipework if new ones are fitted.

The safety valves accumulate - whilst they could be replaced, we'd be tempted to pull them apart and modify if required to improve their performance, to maintain the originality of this rather lovely old engine.
