3 1/2 inch gauge LNER A1/1 Pacific "Hielan Lassie"

A venerable example of LBSC's "Hielan Lassie", his take on Thompson's rebuild of a Gresley Pacific.

He designed it with a choice of either Walschaerts or Baker gear - he was a fan of the latter having lived and worked in the USA before the War, it became popular amongst model engineers who avoided having to mill out an expansion link. Holcroft's ingenious conjugated gear was retained in either design to provide motion for the inside cylinder.

Mechanically its in good order for its age, turns over freely, the motionwork and valve gear have been stored well oiled up which has preserved their finish. Paintwork is grotty, one front buffer and the lubricator is missing.
