3 1/2 inch gauge LSWR Drummond D15 4-4-0

A 3 1/2 inch gauge LSWR D15 4-4-0, the last steam locomotive designed by Dugald Drummond for the railway, in 1912.

Something of a barn find, this one came to us missing its tender, grate and ashpan although complete with a great deal of dust and muck accumulated over the years!

The boiler is silver soldered, with nutted and calked firebox. Under pressure it appeared dry other than one damp spot on the foundation ring which has apparently had repair in the past.

The chassis rolls freely, the seized regulator will require attention before the engine can be run on air.
