3 1/2 inch gauge "Rainhill"

A nicely made example of LBSC's 3 1/2 inch gauge "Rainhill", his take on Stephenson's "Rocket" as modified after the Rainhill trials of 1829.

The engine rolls freely and runs well on air. The boiler has had a twice working pressure hydraulic test and proved structurally sound, with two or three minor leaks in the nutted and calked firebox which could be easily re-calked.

Apparently unsteamed in many years, the engine is complete bar a missing grate which could be easily fabricated.
