3 1/2 inch gauge Royal Scot

Aa 3 1/2 inch gauge LMS "Royal Scot", an older engine, built to a decent standard originally but now in need of restoration.

Built - like many Royal Scots - as a two cylinder model. The chassis turns over freely and runs on air forwards - with wear apparent in the bottom end - but reluctant to go in reverse.

A cursory hydraulic test at 100psi - the limit of the pressure gauge, which proved stubbornly resistant to being removed - showed no signs of leaks or distortion, however the boiler would need a twice working pressure test before use.
