3 1/2 inch gauge Southern Railway S15 Class 4-6-0

A part-built 3 1/2 inch gauge Southern S15 to the "Greene King" design by Martin Evans.

Work to date has been done to a fair standard, though something's gone wrong in the assembly; the chassis turns over freely by hand, but locks up after half a turn when running on air.

The new & unsteamed boiler is structurally sound at 180psi, though with some tiny weeps on the left hand side of the backhead, the crownsheet to tube plate seam and a single stay on the right hand side of the outer wrapper.

Given the ease of accessibility at this stage and the diminutive nature of the leaks, we suspect this would be a straightforward job to repair with Comsol.
