SECOND HAND
13292
A "barn find" 3 ½-inch gauge, small-boilered LBSC "Tich" with Walschaerts gear - the original, and arguably best-looking, variant of his iconic design. It rolls along freely and runs in either direction on air. The builder has neatly routed the reach rod through a sleeve in the right-hand water tank, requiring a bell-crank to connect to the lifting links. A perfectly sound thing to do, except that it now runs backwards with the pole reverser forwards, and vice versa.
We're not sure anybody's going to hurt themselves with that set-up, but if it really offends, it wouldn't be a big job to reset the return cranks from leading to trailing - reversing the reverser, as it were.
