3 inch scale Wallis and Steevens "Simplicity" roller with driving truck

An exceptionally well-built Wallis & Steevens "Simplicity" steam roller, built to the 3 inch scale Plastow design by a local man - a talented engineer he made a great many models including stationary engines, boilers, locomotives and traction engines. We've had several over the years, most recently a fine Stuart Victoria mill engine, 5 inch test boiler and a particularly good 3 1/2 inch gauge Juliet which remains in new, unsteamed condition. He had sold this roller some years ago, it's been steamed on occasion but remains in excellent mechanical order, running like the proverbial sewing machine.

Silver soldered copper boiler, 90psi working pressure. Twin spring type safety valves, feed by injector and mechanical pump. Cast iron cylinder with slide valve actuated by Stephenson's gear, pole reverser, mechanical lubricator. Transmission is single speed with differential, steering by the distinctive Wallis worm and quadrant - it's quick and precise on the model, pretty much the same as in full size.

One of the nicest of these we've seen in recent years, a well sorted machine built to a high standard throughout.

Complete with a basic driving trolley, could easily be converted to a skateboard if so desired...
