3/4 inch scale traction engine

A 3/4 inch scale traction engine, the work of a prolific, highly capable model engineer whose models have featured on these pages in the past. A man of eclectic interests and wide-ranging ability, his work ranges from internal combustion and stationary steam engines, through traction engines, steam wagons and - latterly - a superb WW1 tank that we've all had great fun with trundling around the workshop!

This project started out as a collection of parts for a 3/4 inch scale traction engine by Michael Holden of Banbury; a manufacturer of well-regarded models in the 1970s the company was later acquired by Maxwell Hemmens and marketed under the Taylor-Hemmens name.

Manufacturing those parts which were missing, the engine was assembled and painted in WW1 War Department livery - we think to great effect, it looks very well.

The engine turns over freely and is largely complete, although missing a pressure gauge and burner.
