4 3/4 inch gauge Great Central 1A 4-6-0 "Glenalmond"

An interesting old model of a Great Central 4-6-0 possibly dating, we believe, from the 1920s. Designed for the GCR by Robinson in 1913, eleven locomotives were built, the model representing "Glenalmond", first of the class.

None survived into preservation - reclassified Class B8 by the LNER, all were withdrawn at nationalisation.

Built to one inch scale, the model is 4 3/4 inch gauge - chassis is of robust proportions, typical of earlier models, with some nice work including one-piece turned crankshaft and keyed wheelsets.

The previous owner had had a new boiler made by Western Steam, CE-marked it's complete with manufacturer's documentation.
