5 inch gauge 0-4-0 VBT

A 5 inch gauge vertical boiler locomotive, built in the De Winton style and comprising a single cylinder engine with slip eccentric valve gear and steel gas-fired boiler with club shell test certificate.

It's come to us from a well-known model engineer - still in the workshop in his nineties, he was the builder and custodian of what was, in its time, one of the finest 7 1/4 inch gauge railways in the country.

Somewhat of a "work in progress" on the bench at the time of his most recent downsizing, the locomotive is complete and rolls freely, but something we'd consider a recommissioning/development project.
