5 inch gauge Ajax 0-4-0

A 5 inch gauge 0-4-0T to the Dick Simmonds "Ajax" design.

Well-built and nicely painted in the first place, it's now in need of restoration. The front springs have collapsed and need replacement; the reach rod is missing the pin to connect it to the reversing lever; the engine runs in desultory fashion on air.

The boiler has club paperwork, including a twice working pressure hydraulic test certificate dating from April 2005 and a steam test certificate expiring April 2027. On hydraulic test in our workshop the boiler appeared structurally sound, although with minor beads of water showing on superheater flues and the blower pipe bush in the smokebox.
