5 inch gauge "Ajax" 0-4-0ST

A 5 inch gauge "Ajax" 0-4-0T - a robustly proportioned tank engine, it's simple layout and outside valve gear make for a good beginners engine, easy to drive and maintain.

A well built engine, this one has been used infrequently on the builder's short garden railway to amuse his grandchildren. A highly prolific engineer, well into his eighth decade he's still turning out engines, currently working on a 4 inch scale traction engine.

Earlier in the year we had a pair of 5 inch gauge Duchesses he built some years ago, unsteamed from new.

Unsteamed in some years, the engine has recently had a twice working pressure shell test, with certificate issed for same.
