5 inch gauge BR Standard Class 5 4-6-0

A well advanced 5 inch gauge Standard Class 5 - something of a labour of love for the builder who was working from works drawings and copious quantities of photographs of the prototype locomotives which are included, along with his notes and drawings.

Work to date is to a high standard and includes a chassis with motionwork and valve gear; silver soldered copper boiler complete with formers; platework for cab, running boards and boiler cladding, and a largely complete tender.

The Standard 5 design appears to attract highly competent builders; considerably rarer than the LMS Black 5 on which they were based (and we don't even see many of those, built to Don Young's super design), we've only ever had two others over the years. Both superb models, one was "Camelot" which we bought from the builder way back in 2003, the other 73173 which sold recently.
